Michael S. Millin
Co-Founder
Michael Millin was born into a California family plagued by generational trauma and addiction. Millin battled poverty and instability through much of his formative years, barely graduating high school until finding a safe place to land in sobriety and safety in the ocean. He became a professional surfer at twenty-one and traveled the globe nomadically until settling in Indonesia for 10 years.

Millin is as transparent as they come and a beacon of hope to any who are struggling with sobriety, trauma or simply any who need inspirational zap. His memoir, A Life of Opposing Forces isn’t another story about addiction or surfing; those are just parts of the story, a story of recovery, redemption, and adventure.

FURTHER began in 2019 as a recovery based surf retreat in Bali.
Since then, Further Active LLC. has evolved to include a book, podcast, speaking engagements, and apparel.
FURTHER got its name when Co-Founder Michael S. Millin asked himself how do we go further into our healing, into our recovery? How do we push ourselves further into a better way of being?
